While coordinating the growth of The Wiz, Mr. Jemal launched a string of booming real estate ventures, developing more than six million square feet of retail space in the northeast.

After the sale of The Wiz, Mr. Jemal pursued his enthusiasm for distinctive construction as the developer of executive conference centers and luxury hotels with spas, situated on the nation's most exclusive golf courses, in conjunction with the Marriott hotel chain. It was during this time that Mr. Jemal developed his masterplan for developing Southpoint, the southern tip of Roosevelt Island, in New York City. Working with the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp., under Mr. Jemal's involvement, the project grew into potentially one of the largest residential projects in the city, comparable only to Battery Park City.

SSJ Development LLC® has recently formed SSJ Construction LLC. Created to help further The Riviera® vision, SSJ Construction LLC will help control the speed and quality of every Riviera project built. The formation of the company will allow SSJ Development LLC to centralize every Riviera operation and maintain strict quality, fiduciary and schedule control. The cost savings realized in SSJ Development LLC® building its own projects, will be passed directly to the purchaser and will give SSJ a powerful edge in a competitive market.

SSJ Development LLC® will likewise benefit from Mr. Jemal's experience building in excess of 6 million square feet of retail shopping centers, office space and distribution centers. As owner of Nobody Beats the Wiz. Mr. Jemal will bring to bear the experience he accrued through his personal and intimate involvement in building and construction of all the Wiz stores.

SSJ Construction LLC is proud to have on board Mr. Lou Angeletti. Mr. Angeletti has been in the construction business over 35 years and his work experience spans from every type of residential and commercial construction, both new and alteration, from Connecticut, New York to Virginia and out to California.

He specializes in developing waterfront sites, SSJ Development’s niche, with multiple waterfront projects located on the Hudson River and both sides of the Long Island Sound. He has completed hi-rise condominium projects out of the ground to residential build-outs for some of the wealthiest people in the world. On the commercial side, he has built large big box construction as well as fit-outs for same. Mr. Angeletti has extensive experience in adaptive reconstruction of Landmark properties and new construction on logistically difficult sites. Included in his construction expertise are fast-track projects and he is known as one of the leading movie theatre builders in the Tri-State area. During his long and productive construction experience, a number of completed projects have been nominated and won awards in addition to being published in architectural periodicals and books. Additionally, he has expertise in education institutional construction that spans 24 years with numerous projects from elementary school facilities through prestigious New York universities. While doing all of this, Lou has served on several charitable organizations boards including Catholic Charities, private school development boards, and a number of pro bono school projects for underprivileged schools in the New York area.

SSJ Remediation LLC

SSJ Development LLC®’s commitment to revitalizing the waterfront begins with the ground and surrounding waters it builds on. To insure the quality of that ground and water as well as monitor and purify it, SSJ Development LLC® has formed SSJ Remediation to accomplish this goal. Chosen for this important task is Mr. Charles B. Sosik, PG, PHG, who brings his 19 years of experience in contaminant release management. He specializes in managing environmental compliance with federal, state, and municipal agencies and successfully directed numerous investigations and remediation projects including petroleum, pesticides, chlorinated solvents, heavy metals, and radiologic activated media.

His work includes extensive three-dimensional investigations on MTBF, which have been used effectively to shape public policy. He also has experience in applying models to groundwater related problems and has completed several large-scale projects to determine the fate and transport of contaminants, establish spill scenarios, and closure criteria. His experience and expertise in the area of contaminant hydrogeology has resulted in requests from environmental attorneys, property owners, and New York State to serve as an expert witness and technical advisor on a variety of legal disputes. Recently Mr. Sosik has engaged in environmental consulting to developers responding to the extensive re-zoning of former industrial and commercial properties in New York City.

SSJ Development LLC, in keeping in line with its continued growth and internalization of all facets of waterfront development, has opened its demolition division SSJ Demolition LLC. Headed by Mr. Anthony Morales, SSJ Demolition LLC will greatly benefit from his 10+ years of experience and expertise. SSJ Demolition will provide SSJ Development with excavation, shoring and sheeting, foundation work, underpinning, heavy concrete construction/superstructure and all other aspects of concrete and demolition work for both residential and commercial properties. All of these services will be done with the skill, care and delicateness required to keep the waterfront clean while concurrently improving and revitalizing it. SSJ Demolition LLC will provide SSJ Development the control and direction of the demolition work required to develop waterfront sites and insure that the waterfront’s pristine beauty remains intact while, in conjunction with SSJ Remediation LLC, will improve and renew neglected and disheveled sites returning to the waterfront its natural beauty.
